“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”- Dr. Suess
Gotta get to the bank. Gotta get groceries. Gotta get the kids. Gotta pay that bill. Gotta call that person. Gotta do that paperwork. Gotta get to the gym. Gotta clean that room.
Did I shut that off? Did I do all I could? What if I had done this? What if I had done that? This thing happened four years ago. That person said this last time I saw them.
Far too often we are living in a state of anxiety worrying about the future, and thinking about the things we have to come or we’re living in the past and thinking of things that have happened or how things could have happened differently. Not often enough are we living in each moment and appreciating the little things. Then once the little things become memories, we’re left wishing we had more time with them.
The beautiful thing is that it’s never too late to start. Mindfulness knows no bounds. It is not something that has to be done by a certain time or not at all. The other beautiful thing is that it’s super easy to do.
Take a deep breath.
Acknowledge what you’re doing in this moment.
What you’re sitting on or standing near.
Feel the weight of your body on your feet.
Take another deep breath and let it consume you.
Think about what you’re doing, and appreciate your body. Appreciate your life.
Your heart is pumping blood to keep you alive. Your body is absorbing each breath. Your body is processing the intake from the day so far. Your body is holding you together and keeping you strong.
In this single moment, you’re not in worrying about the future or dwelling on the past.
In each moment there’s a beautiful opportunity for light and brief peace. It’s never too late to look for it.
Work on cherishing each moment before it becomes a memory. ❤
Peace, love, and light to my readers.
